Diet Tips for UTI, Kidney and Prostate Problems
What is UTI?
— Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection that affects any part of the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder or urethra.
Diet For UTI:
- Avoid caffeine in all forms, soda, citrus fruits, spicy food, alcohol, artificial sweeteners.
- Probiotics are good/ helpful bacteria for our body. Intake of probiotics like yogurt, paneer, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, buttermilk helps fight UTI.
- Water plays a major role in flushing out toxins from the body. Hence, drinking lots of water is recommended.
- Unsweetened Cranberry juice helps to flush out infection causing bacteria from the urinary tract walls.
- Garlic has bacteria killing properties which helps to kill bacteria that cause UTI.
- Vitamin C rich foods like strawberries, oranges, blueberries, grapefruits and green leafy vegetables should be consumed.
Diet for Kidney and Prostate Problems:
- For whole grain bread, pasta and cereals.
- Food like fish, beans and eggs help to provide proteins to our body.
- Use of olive oil is recommended.
- Consume nuts like almonds, walnuts, pecans.
- Avoid caffeine in all forms, soda, citrus fruits, spicy food, alcohol, artificial sweeteners.
- Limit the consumption of salt in daily food items.
- Avoid dairy products as far as possible.
- Veggies like bell peppers, tomatoes, onion, broccoli, cauliflower, kale and green leafy vegetables.
- Fruits like watermelon, papaya, pink grapefruit and apricots are recommended.
- Other food items like tofu, sprouts, soybeans, soy milk and yogurt are recommended.
